What if the owner has already paid the general contractor in full?

In order to have a lien, there must a lien fund.  If the owner has already paid the general contractor in full, there is no lien fund. If you are a subcontractor or supplier, the lien fund would be the amount that is owed to the general contractor. The NJ Construction Lien Law protects the owner so that it does not have to pay twice for the same labor and materials.
