NEW YORK PAID FAMILY LEAVE LAW
Q: Under the
new law, if an employee is on leave, must the employer hold open his/her
job? Must the employer continue to provide health coverage to the employee on
leave?
A: The NY Paid Family Leave law requires covered employers to restore an
employee who takes leave to the same or a comparable position without losing
the benefits he or she would have accrued if he/she had not taken leave. Employers
must continue providing health coverage as if the employee were not out on
leave.
