Pursuant to the new law signed by Governor Murphy on
February 4, 2019, NJ’s minimum wage will increase on July 1, 2019, and on the
first of January each year thereafter until 2024, so that by 2024, NJ’s minimum
wage will be $15 per hour.
Does this apply to small employers?
The minimum wage for employees working for businesses that
employ 5 or less employees will not reach $15 per hour
until 2026. Here is the increase schedule:
- $10.30
per hour on January 1, 2020
- $11.10
per hour on January 1, 2021
- $11.90
per hour on January 1, 2022
- $12.70
per hour on January 1, 2023
- $13.50
per hour on January 1, 2024
- $14.30
per hour on January 1, 2025
- $15.00
per hour on January 1, 2026
This schedule applies to certain seasonal workers too.
